Selecting a bottle of wine can be as intimidating as choosing a piece of fine art. Both are chosen for their technique, medium, and color, yet they should also reflect the style and personality of the buyer. The artist’s palette should complement the buyer’s palate.
Robert Mondavi’s Artist Collection takes the guesswork out of the decision. Each of our wine labels reflects the distinct mark of the artist’s work that guides the buyer to make the best selection. From our romantic Monet Rosé, to our vibrant Matisse Chardonnay and even our bold Picasso Tempranillo, buyers know what awaits them in each bottle.
Crisp, zesty, and vibrant. Robert Mondavi’s Matisse Chardonnay is an intersection of Post-impressionist art and winemaking at its finest. In its purest, unoaked form, our Chardonnay resembles Matisse’s work—elegant, bold, and fresh. Young grapes are harvested early to retain high acidity and fresh citrus flavors, then stored in stainless steel tanks to preserve bright fruit characteristics. The result is a medium-bodied Chardonnay that’s dry and refreshing with a pop of citrus. The zesty and vibrant flavors in each bottle pay homage to Matisse’s work of bold colors and forms.
Romantic, refreshing, and airy. Robert Mondavi’s Monet Rosé is an intersection of Provincial art and wine. Claude Monet and rosé wine are known for their soft, pastel tones and diffused light. Using the Provence style of winemaking, our rosé is a light-bodied dry wine with flavors of apricot and peach and notes of lavender and rose petals. Our direct press method of winemaking produces the lightest, palest rosé with a delicate and elegant style – all of which mimic Monet’s impressionist brushstrokes.
Bold, earthy, and smooth. Robert Mondavi’s Picasso Tempranillo Blend is a celebration of Spain’s most iconic treasures. Our rich blend is influenced by Pablo Picasso’s deep and emotional art, and our tempranillo grapes provide layers of flavor including fruit, spice, and oak. Visually and chemically, our blend is a marriage of Picasso’s rose and blue periods, where warmth and depth are found in the aging process. The result is a rich, smooth taste with complex flavors of cherry and plum, along with hints of leather, tobacco, and spice.
